Staff at Pinewood are selected primarily on the basis of a kind and caring nature. On-going training is provided to ensure that they have the necessary skills and experience to deliver a high standard of nursing care, utilising the medical equipment and facilities provided by the Home.

Philip Sadeghi
Philp had, until 2004, worked as a solicitor in the city of London with over 8 years' experience in law. Feeling it was time for a change of career, Philip agreed to join his father, Jim, and his brother, Andy, to be in charge of Pinewood.

Andy Sadeghi
Having acquired Masters degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Internet Computing, Andy, had, until 2004, been working for an Internet Service Provider in Sheffield. Since then, he agreed to come to Devon and join Jim and Philip to be heavily involved in the administration and running of the family care business.
Manager/Matron
Karen Thomas
Karen qualified as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 2001, having gained a Diploma in Health Studies at the University of Plymouth. Her first position as a staff nurse was on a respiratory ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. She stayed there for 18 months before moving to a diabetes ward. She then went on to secure a senior staff nurse role and then a Sister's role while she was there. During her management position, Karen lead the medical directorate drug update training sessions for qualified nurses, was a clinical nurse advisor and did night management duties where she was in charge of the hospital at night. Having decided upon a change, Karen came to Pinewood in June 2007.

Juan Mabor Jr
Juan started his career in the medical field in 2001 after acquiring a degree in Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy he then worked as a Clinical Supervisor in a Rehabilitation Clinic in Manila, Philippines. For 2 years, he was practicing as a physiotherapist for private clients and a staff PT in a military base. In 2003, he embarked on a new challenge for his career when he took up Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After completing the Degree in Nursing, and after passing the Licensure Examination in 2005, he worked as staff nurse in his local province in various wards such as paediatric, medical-surgical ward and in the operating room. In 2006, he successfully passed the Licensure examination for Midwifery after completing the required cases. He then pursued a career in teaching when he worked as a professor/clinical instructor in Basilan State University teaching nursing students. By the middle of 2007, he applied for the Overseas Nursing Programme under the University of Northampton, England for his adaptation after which he satisfactorily gained his NMC pin number by December 2008. He then worked as a staff nurse in BUPA Care homes in Birmingham. Juan is currently doing the Registered Award Training.

Lesley Dawe
After completing her nurse training, Lesley initially worked as a staff nurse on general surgery in Southampton General Hospital. She held several sister's posts in general surgery before moving to elderly care as a ward sister. By 1995 Lesley had left behind the hospital environment to work as Acting Matron at Silver Park Nursing Home in Fleet. A year later she took up a position as Matron at Loadhams Nursing Home in Farnham for two years and then moved to run Crossways Nursing Home near Basingstoke. In 2001 Lesley started work as an internal verifier and trainer for Kingsley training as well as her matron's post. Lesley is now in charge of training staff at Pinewood, including staff NVQs.

Maria Fampulme
Maria has over twenty years' experience as a nurse, having qualified in the Phillipines in 1980. She started her career working in Pediatrics and later worked in various surgery wards in the Phillipines. She travelled to Ireland in 2003 and worked in a nursing home in Cork for over a year, where she undertook an adaptation course to be able to practice nursing in the UK. She joined the home shortly thereafter in 2004.

Bindu John
Bindu qualified as a nurse in India in 1998. She worked in both midwifery and general nursing in hospitals in India and then came to join Pinewood in 2004 as a care assistant. After having completed her adaptation programme in 2005, Bindu commenced work for Pinewood as a nurse.

Nisha Sreedharan
Nisha qualified as a nurse in India. She joined Pinewood in 2006 as a care assistant and, after completing her adaptation programme in 2007, Nisha commenced work for the care home as a nurse.

Beverley has over 18 years' experience as a care assistant and has recently gained NVQ level 3 in care. Beverley leads the care team here at Pinewood nursing home.
